Spiral Apple Pie
Ingredients
1 package premade pie dough
4-5 Kanzi® apples, thinly sliced
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 Tbsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp flour
1 Tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
1 egg
1 Tbsp sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Roll out pie dough and gently press into pie dish. Trim any excess dough hanging over edges.
Places apple slices in a large bowl and toss with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour.
Pour half the apple mixture into pie crust and arrange slices evenly. Use remaining apple slices to create a circle pattern on top, layering them neatly in overlapping circles until the entire top is covered.
Add pieces of butter across the top of the apples. Beat the egg and lightly brush over exposed crust edges and apples slices. Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp sugar for a golden finish.
Place pie in preheated oven and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
Allow pie to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
